4 Reasons Why EVERY Entrepreneur Should be Repurposing Their Content

July 15, 2019

Content repurposing is a pretty new concept for many entrepreneurs and business owners with it being relatively new; there many misconceptions of what repurposing your content means.

The definition of the word repurpose is “to give a new purpose or use to.” And this is precisely what repurposing your content does. You take one piece of content, and you create a new purpose or use for it.

4 reasons why EVERY entrepreneur should be repurposing their content:

Get off the hamster wheel of content creation

Content creation requires you to constantly being innovative and thinking of new ideas. But instead of having to create new content all the time for all your social platforms, you’ll be able to focus on creating valuable content for one platform and repurpose that to your other desired platforms. Allowing you to not be in content creation mode all the time and having more time.

Stop being the bottleneck of your business

Does this one sting a little? I’ve actually have had several of my clients say this very thing when describing how they feel about their content. As our businesses grow, we hire on team members to help alleviate specific pain points in our business, but always feeling that you’ll always be chained down to everything that relates to content creation.

But having someone support you in content repurposing you’ll be able to create the valuable content your audience is waiting for one time, then you’ll be able to get that crossed off your list while someone repurposes your content to your other platforms. This still allows you to be the face of your company and teach and share your expertise.

Content needs to be repeated

Have you ever heard that your message needs to be repeated multiple times? In some industries this is called “effective frequency” Some say that 7 times is the magic number it takes for our audience to remember our message. Microsoft did a study on this and concluded that the number ranges from 6-20 times!

By repurposing your content, you’re still sharing the main points of the original piece that you want your audience to remember, but giving it a new spin or changing the context surrounding it. This allows you to share the valuable content, so your audience has a higher chance of remembering it, without just resharing the exact same thing over and over again.

Leverage your valuable content

Have you ever scrolled through your years of content you’ve created

  • blog posts
  • podcast episodes
  • FB live videos
  • YT videos

You shed a tear because you put so much time, effort, and even money,
into creating that content. You shared them on your social platforms once- maybe even twice, and they now are sitting there collecting dust.

We should think of our existing content as a gold mine. Repurposing this content will help you leverage what you’ve already created to be seen in new an15d fresher ways.

As you can see repurposing your content can save you time, effort, and even money while getting your valuable content in front of as many eyes as possible.

Now it’s your turn! Tell me, are you repurposing your content? If not, what is stopping you from taking action?
